Ideas for writing
1. You can encourage your child to write. Here are some ideas for writing your child might like to do:

- cards for family and friends birthdays and other occasions.

- emails or text messages.

- lyrics of their favourite songs so they can learn them.

- rhymes and raps they have made up themselves.

- poems.

- a diary.

- lists - “People we know”, “Things to take on holiday” or “Likes and dislikes”.

- the rules when they make up a new game with their friends.

2. Be available to help out with spelling, checking with the dictionary if you need to.

3. Talk to your child about what they write – this could include texts, taking telephone messages or writing to remember special events. Be interested and praise what they have done well, saying what you liked.
